La nuit des idées 2022 met à l'honneur le concept de Patrimoine. Sous le titre « [Re]build : Beyond the
Skyline », cet événement se tiendra le 21 Juin 2022 de 17h30 à 22h00 sur le site de l’Asia Society Hong Kong et sera diffusé,
également en ligne. Par son format hybride et innovant, il proposera un contenu captivant et varié, que vous veniez dans l’oasis de calme de
l’ASHK au cœur d’Admiralty ou que vous suiviez les débats en ligne.
Alors que l’année 2022 marque les 10 ans de l’installation de l’Asia Society
Hong Kong (ASHK)
dans les anciens entrepôts d’explosifs du port Victoria ainsi que le 5e anniversaire de « La Nuit des
idées » organisée
par le Consulat général de France, les deux institutions se réunissent à nouveau pour façonner le monde à venir en réfléchissant au
passé.
Le patrimoine occupe une place prépondérante dans le débat qui façonne l’identité des générations futures. Face à ce constat, la Nuit des
Idées a pour objectif de déconstruire la notion pour répondre à une question simple mais essentielle : qu’est-ce que le
patrimoine ?
Au programme : conférences de spécialistes, tables-rondes, témoignages d'experts, performances et exposition de l’ASHK de plus de 80 images
des photographes prises à Hong Kong entre les années 1940 et 1970 (Recovery, Resilience, Resurgence), une exposition exclusive
d’enseignes en néon de l’association Streetsignhk, ainsi qu’à une expérience VR unique autour du patrimoine bâti français.
The Night of Ideas 2022 is to honour the concept of heritage. Under the title
“[Re]build: Beyond the Skyline” this event will take place on June 21st, 2022 from 5:30pm to 10pm at ASHK on-site and online. Through its
hybrid and innovative design, it will bring to you insightful and lively content, whether you come to the calm oasis of ASHK in the heart
of Admiralty or you are live streaming at home.
As the year 2022 marks 10 years of Asia Society Hong Kong (ASHK) at the
Former Explosives Magazine heritage site as well as the 5th anniversary of The Night of Ideas organised by the Consulate
General of France, both institutions come together to reflect on the past in order to shape the world ahead.
Heritage is a critical discussion point in the debate about shaping the identity of future generations. In light of this observation, the
Night of Ideas aims to answer a simple, yet essential question: What is heritage?

Béthanie sanathorium à Pok Fu Lam
Béthanie est un immeuble historique situé à Pok Fu Lam, à Hong Kong. Il est construit en 1875 comme un sanatorium par la
Société des Missions Étrangères de Paris. C'est un bâtiment historique de grade II selon l'Office : Antiquities and Monuments in Hong
Kong.
Il appartient dorénavant à la banque BNP Paribas qui l'a rénové et réouvert en 2006 : il accueille l'Academy's School of Film and
Television. Il possède également deux lieux de performances, un hall d'exposition, une chapelle et un musée ouvert au public.
Béthanie is a historic building complex in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong. It was built in 1875 as a sanatorium by the Paris Foreign
Missions. Béthanie sanatorium is a Grade II listed building according to the Hong Kong Antiquities and Monuments Office. It is now owned by
French BNP Paribas Bank, which has renovated and renovated and reopened in 2006 to hosts the Academy's School of Film and Television.
It also has two performance spaces, an exhibition hall, a chapel and a museum open to the public.
La maison des Missions étrangères de Paris à Central
L'ancienne mission française ou maison des Missions étrangères de Paris est un édifice monumental de Hong Kong situé sur la Government
Hill. La maison doit son nom à la Société des Missions étrangères de Paris qui l'a reconstruite en 1915-1917 et l'a vendue en 1953 au
gouvernement de Hong Kong. Elle a abrité la cour d'appel de Hong Kong de 1997 à 2015.
The Former French Mission Building is a monumental building in Hong Kong located on Government Hill. The house owes its name to
the Foreign Missions Society of Paris, which rebuilt it in 1915-1917 and sold it in 1953 to the Hong Kong government. It housed the Court
of Final Appeal from 1997 to 2015.
Les néons : un patrimoine visible et invisible en danger ?
Fabriquées dans de modestes ateliers de la ville, les enseignes au néon sont depuis longtemps un symbole de l'identité de Hong Kong. Ils
symbolisent l'entrelacement des cultures asiatiques et occidentales. Alors que les tubes fluorescents sont progressivement remplacés par des
lampes LED, certains habitants de la mégalopole s'accrochent à cette tradition...
La ville tentaculaire, densément peuplée depuis des générations, abrite une myriade de petites entreprises, chacune avec sa propre
enseigne lumineuse. Année après année, la taille et la puissance d'éclairage de ces enseignes ont augmenté en raison d'une concurrence
féroce. C'est ainsi que s'est déchaînée la vague de tubes au néon qui a rendu Hong Kong emblématique. Mais malheureusement ce
patrimoine tend à disparaitre.
Crafted in modest workshops, Neon signs have long been a symbol of Hong Kong's identity. They symbolize the entwining of Asian
and Western cultures. While fluorescent tubes are gradually being replaced by LEDs, some inhabitants of the megalopolis still hold on to
this tradition... Hong Kong is home to a myriad of small businesses, each with its own illuminated sign. Year after year, these signs’ size
and illumination power have grown because of a stiff competition. This is how the tide of neon tubes that made Hong Kong so iconic was
unleashed.
Les journées du patrimoine en France et en Europe - Heritage day in France and Europe
La journée du patrimoine a lieu en Europe en septembre. Des sites exceptionnels et des espaces
privés tels que le Palais de l'Elysée, des châteaux, des monuments, des églises, des théâtres ouvrent leurs portes au grand
public. Les Journées européennes du patrimoine sont l'événement culturel participatif le plus largement célébré et partagé en
Europe (20 millions de visiteurs chaque année).

Held in September each year, these events – often called Heritage Open Days - take place in the 50 countries party to the European Cultural
Convention. During this time, doors are opened to numerous monuments and sites, allowing Europe’s citizens to enjoy free visits and learn
