L'importance de ce festival réside non seulement dans sa capacité à rassembler des talents de renommée internationale, mais aussi dans sa contribution à l'évolution et à l'expansion du genre, en mettant en avant des auteurs émergents, en encourageant l'innovation et en offrant une tribune aux diverses formes d'expression de la bande dessinée, notamment des pays où la BD tient une place marginale. Par le biais de ses expositions, de ses compétitions, de ses conférences et de ses rencontres, le festival d'Angoulême contribue à faire rayonner la bande dessinée et à nourrir son évolution constante, tout en renforçant son statut d'art à part entière.
Quinze artistes hongkongais étaient représentés pour l’édition 2023 du Festival International d’Angoulême. Plusieurs stands, différentes animations, du dessin en direct et des conférences ont eu lieu au mois de janvier, mois durant lequel se déroule le festival.

Avec des milliers de parutions par an, le marché français de la BD joue un rôle de dénicheur de talents internationaux. Le marché français
joue également un rôle central dans la reconnaissance de la BD en tant qu'art littéraire, avec la présence de nombreux festivals, prix et
institutions dédiés à la promotion de la bande dessinée. Grâce à sa diversité et à son dynamisme, le marché de la BD français continue
de façonner le paysage mondial de la bande dessinée et de susciter l'intérêt des lecteurs du monde entier.
Reconnu pour son histoire riche et sa tradition artistique, la France est le deuxième plus grand marché de la bande dessinée au monde,
juste derrière les États-Unis. L'industrie de la bande dessinée française bénéficie d'un large éventail de talents créatifs, d'éditeurs
renommés et d'un public passionné. Les auteurs français ont produit certaines des œuvres les plus emblématiques de l'histoire de la bande
dessinée, et leurs travaux ont souvent été traduits et exportés dans de nombreux pays.
