us at the French bookshop Parenthèses for the 8th edition of our events "Literary anniversary" on October 15th from
6pm to 7pm !
To mark the 180th anniversary of Jules Verne's death, the Consulate general of France in Hong Kong and Macau and the Parenthèses bookshop are joining forces to commemorate the writer. Emilien Thuriès and Olivier Descambs, literature teachers at the French International School will present Jules Verne, his books and his legacy. The evening will be followed by a short quiz with prizes to be won. Finally, an aperitif will bring the evening to a close.
Jules Verne was a French writer considered one of the pioneers of science fiction. His work is marked by a fascination with exploration, technology and scientific discovery. Iconic titles such as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Around the World in 80 Days and From the Earth to the Moon have become classics of world literature. In all, he wrote over 60 novels and short stories, influencing numerous authors and continuing to inspire film and stage adaptations. Jules Verne died on March 24, 1905, but his legacy lives on, making him a key figure in adventure and science fiction literature.
