Moving Together for a Cause: The RUN HK Challenge

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the RUN Virtual Corporate Challenge brings teams together for a meaningful cause: supporting refugee women and their families in Hong Kong and beyond. More than just a race, this initiative combines physical activity, teamwork, and social impact.

Organised as a virtual distance challenge, RUN encourages workplace teams to raise funds while staying active. In the lead-up to March, teams of five colleagues commit to fundraising efforts. During the challenge week, participants walk, run, or hike, logging their distance online and contributing to a collective goal of 12,500 kilometres and a fundraising target of HK$1 million.

What makes this challenge unique is its flexibility. Designed to fit around busy schedules, participants can join from anywhere, making it accessible to teams across different locations and lifestyles. RUN  is a non-profit organization supporting vulnerable refugees, particularly women, to build resilience and nurture self-reliance for a more hopeful future. They implemented three  mains programmes : Education programme , Sport programme and Pathways programme.

Alliance Française’s Contribution

This year, Alliance Française Hong Kong is proud to take part in the initiative. A team of five members joined the challenge, committing to five days of activity: running, hiking, or walking as much as possible to support refugee women and their families.

In addition, on March 7th, just ahead of International Women’s Day, Alliance Française  hosted a special event to raise awareness about the cause and promote women’s rights. This moment aimed to bring the community together, spark conversations, and encourage further support for the initiative.

Beyond the numbers and kilometres, the RUN HK Challenge represents solidarity, empowerment, and collective action. It is a reminder that small individual efforts, when combined, can create a powerful impact.
