Make Music, Hong Kong! is very honoured to present the Hong Kong jazz master Quartet Ted Lo,  Eugene Pao, Scott Todd and Andy Gander. Jazz lover must not miss!

Ted Lo

A former graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, the artist made his first recording with trombonist Raul de Souza for Milestone Records in 1975. In 1979, Lo moved to New York City where he joined the 'Herbie Mann and Family of Mann' Group and subsequently the 'Ron Carter Quartet. While in New York, Lo had collaborated with an impressive list of modern jazz artists; including Astrud Gilberto, Dave Valentin, Micheal Franks, Special Efx, Flora Purim & Airto, Eric Gale, Milk Stern, among others.

Lo was featured in his debut performance in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Arts Festival in 1995. In 1996, the artist returned to his homeland in Hong Kong to pursue a diverse career as a musician, composer, music director, arranger and producer.

Eugene Pao

Eugene Pao is one of the Hong Kong’s most publicly recognised jazz musician, he is also the first local jazz guitarist who signed a contract with an international record label.

In addition to releasing several albums under his own name or in association with other Hong Kong musicians, Pao has played with Jeremy Monteiro’s group Asiana and with many leading international performers in the jazz field, including Blues great Jimmy Witherspoon, saxophonist Michael Brecker, Bassist Eddie Gomez, drummer Jack DeJohnette, Jazz greats Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock.

Over the last decades, Eugene Pao has truly established himself as Hong Kong’s premier jazz guitarist. He continues to travel the world for performances at international Jazz festivals, concert halls and to take part in select recording projects.

Scott Dodd

After graduating from The Canberra School Of Music (Australian National University) in 1996. Being proficient on both electric and double bass Scott has been in constant demand as a bass player for more than 20 years. He has worked throughout Australia performing anything from high profile Jazz concerts to smaller club venues. Some of the people Scott has played or studied with are; Giacamo Gates, Andrew Firth, Ketter Betts.

Since moving to China in 2004 Scott has been involved in several projects, one of them being 'JR'. (first jazz band based in China to release an album internationally)

Over the past 4 years in Hong Kong Scott has also recorded/performed with Angelia Li, Eugene Pao, Ted Lo, Sandy Lam, Khalil Fong, Blaine Whittaker, Antonio Hart, Jason Chan, George Lam, Alex Lam, Ivana, and Micheal Wong.

Andy Gander

Andy Gander is an Australian jazz drummer who has performed, toured and recorded throughout the world with many prominent international artists including Ray Brown, Michael Brecker, John McLaughlin, Kenny Kirkland, Ernie Watts, Johnny Griffin, Joe Pass, James Morrison, James

Muller, Joe Chindamo, Paul Grabowsky, Randy Brecker, Alan Vizuti, Bobby Shew, Kenny Wheeler, Jim Pugh, Mark Murphy, Larry Coryell, Jimmy Witherspoon, Larry Coryell, Eugene Pao, Ted Lo, Alex Sipiagin, Will Vinson, John Stowell and Adison Evans. Andy is also an accomplished educator, clinician and researcher, holding a master’s degree from Melbourne University and a PhD from Sydney University."
