NYPD is a five-person band straight out of the underground neighborhood of Tai Kok Tsui in Hong Kong. Since their debut in 2018, NYPD has become “the most interesting band in the Hong Kong indie music scene at the moment”, described by audience.
Blending full throttle chaos with confrontational street wit, NYPD mixes their music with an irrepressible joy of their own. Their songs are brash, loud and funny; inspired by their surroundings, they draw influences from late night snacks, idol Teresa Teng, and second hand clothing shops alike.
NYPD performs regularly at local venues Hidden Agenda and KITEC, where they opened for Metz, Toy and Pains of Being Pure at Heart. They have also performed at Clockenflap music festival alongside billings like The Prodigy and Massive Attack, and have been hired for corporate events by art organizations and brands, including Tai Kwun, Empty Gallery, W Hotels, Mixcloud and Under Armour.
With their debut album coming up in Summer 2019, NYPD is looking to spread their music to a wider audience.
