English title: Marona's Fantastic Tale
Director: Anca Damian
Duration: 92 min

Victim of an accident , a small female dog remembers her different masters she has unconditionally loved. With her unfailing empathy, Marona has brought lightness and innocence in each of the homes she has lived in.

The film has received praise for its unique visual style and the distinct story-telling approach. The visual imagery which fusions hand-drawn and computer-generated elements gives a breath of fresh air to the work. It also avoids conventional story-telling, exploring instead themes as relevant to the young as to the grown-up. For some critics, the movie offers "meditations on the simplicity of joy and the joy of simplicity." For others, "it is about existence; about the wrenching truth of what it means to live, age and die, leaving a legacy of love and regret."

A woman filmmaker to know:

Anca Damien is a Romanian director. She has worked as a director of photography in some feature films and many documentaries. Her second feature film "Le Voyage de Monsieur Crulic (Crulic - The Path to Beyond)" has received more than 35 prizes at notable international film festivals, including the prestigious Cristal Award at Annecy (2012). She established herself in a then very male-oriented Romanian film industry. She regards animation as a natural way for her to tell stories which at the same time offers indefinite creative possibilities.
